KKB Kun Khmer Boxing Battambang Club & Gym is not only a place where young people learn how to fight. It is also a community club that tries to give disadvantaged children, young fighters and sometimes orphaned students a safer environment, regular support and a better future. 🇰🇭❤️

Almost every Sunday, KKB pays for food and drinks for its young students and fighters. When another Kun Khmer club is invited for shared training and sparring, the visiting fighters, coaches and staff are also welcomed around the table.

1. KKB Overview

KKB Kun Khmer Boxing is a Kun Khmer club and community project based in Battambang, Cambodia. The club trains children, beginners, young fighters and competitive athletes while promoting discipline, respect, physical health and Cambodian culture.

KKB is not primarily looking to make money. Its objective is to create a positive structure around children and give them access to training, equipment, coaching, food, drinks and opportunities that some families cannot always afford.

2. Meals and Drinks Almost Every Sunday

Almost every Sunday, KKB provides food and drinks for the young students and fighters present at the club. These meals are not reserved only for the strongest athletes or competitive fighters. Children who are still learning, young people who train recreationally and other club members can also participate.

Sharing food after training gives children a moment to recover, relax and spend time together. It also allows coaches and adults to speak with them outside the pressure of training.

At KKB, the Sunday meal is part of the club’s social mission, not simply an extra activity after boxing practice.

3. Supporting Disadvantaged Children and Fighters

Many young people who attend KKB come from modest or disadvantaged backgrounds. Some may have limited access to sports equipment, regular meals or structured activities. Some children may also be growing up without the support normally provided by both parents.

4. Food for Visiting Clubs, Coaches and Staff

KKB regularly welcomes other Kun Khmer clubs for friendly training, technical exchanges and controlled sparring. After these sessions, the invitation normally continues around a shared meal.

Visiting fighters, their coaches, accompanying staff members, KKB athletes and children are invited to eat and drink together. This can represent a significant number of people, especially during larger inter-club exchanges.

5. How Even One Dollar Can Help

The cost of living in Cambodia is lower than in many Western countries, but food, water, electricity, equipment and salaries still cost money. When many children, fighters and visitors need to be supported, the total quickly becomes significant.

In the local context, even a donation of US$1 can help pay for a simple meal. A person contributing US$1 per month may consider this a small amount, but several regular one-dollar donations can help feed several children over time.

At present, almost all of these expenses are personally covered by KKB president Robert Grégoire, also known within the club as KKB Robert.

He currently finances most Sunday meals, drinks, equipment purchases and many of the club’s daily operating costs from his own money.
